05 Tagline
“Knowledge is light.”
Introduction
The Chapter’s verbal marks. One motto and four supporting lines, each with a job.
Knowledge is Light
Line 01 / 05 · The Society’s motto, carried on the original crest. It is the primary line and it is not negotiable.
It says the Chapter is about what a master knows, not what a master is called. Light is meant to be passed on: to an apprentice, a student, a room full of young cooks.
Use it to close films, programmes and the footer of every page. Never paraphrase it.
Recognised, Never Bought
Line 02 / 05 · The Chapter’s membership line.
It answers the first question anyone asks about an honours society: can I pay my way in? No. That refusal is the brand’s strongest proof.
Use it wherever the Chapter talks about membership, induction or nomination.
Earned at the Pass
Line 03 / 05 · The line for the craft.
The pass is where a plate is judged before it leaves the kitchen. The phrase puts mastery where it is actually won.
Use it for member profiles, Hero Stories and recruitment.
A Kitchen is No Small Place
Line 04 / 05 · The line for the Chapter’s story.
It opens the Chapter’s narrative and makes the case that a professional kitchen is a place of formation, not just work.
Use it as an opening line in films, speeches and long-form writing.
Mastery. Mentorship. Hospitality.
Line 05 / 05 · The three-word summary.
The first three of the Chapter’s five values, used as a compact description in bios, social profiles and signage.
Always in this order, always with full stops.
